Vegetarian & vegan friendly
Mongolian food is built around meat and dairy, so vegetarians and vegans should know a few safe places. In Ulaanbaatar these restaurants have fully vegan menus or long vegetarian sections; in the countryside, tell your tour company early so they can plan meals.
- Loving Hut (Restaurants, Seoul Street (central branch)): Vegan restaurant with Mongolian and Asian dishes made without meat, including meat-free buuz and khuushuur.
- Hazara Indian Cuisine (Restaurants, Peace Avenue area, east of the centre): One of Ulaanbaatar's oldest Indian restaurants, with tandoor dishes, curries and plenty of vegetarian choices.
- Rosewood (Restaurants, Seoul Street 7/1): Italian restaurant on Seoul Street serving pizza, pasta and wine, popular with expats.
