UBean Coffee House & Roasterie

Long-running specialty coffee house that roasts its own beans, east of the centre. A good stop for hand-brewed filter coffee and a light lunch.

UBean started as a small coffee bar inside an NGO community centre, set up by an American barista, and became one of the first places in Ulaanbaatar to take specialty coffee seriously. It sits on the second floor of the Nam Yan Ju centre in the 13th microdistrict, with a relaxed, homely feel and a mix of seating.

Beans are roasted in-house and you can order espresso drinks or pour-overs (V60, Chemex, AeroPress), plus cold drip in summer. The food side covers soups, paninis, bagels and cookies, with some vegan options. It also hosts community events such as open-mic nights.

  • Address: 2nd floor, Nam Yan Ju Cultural Center, 13th microdistrict, across from the Night Market
