Cafés & coffee
Jur Ur
Flagship branch of Jur Ur, a Mongolian bakery chain running since 1998: buy cakes and pastries downstairs, then sit with a coffee in the café upstairs.
Jur Ur is one of Ulaanbaatar's best-known home-grown bakery brands, with dozens of branches across the country. This Ard Ayush Avenue shop is one of its main branches, in the company's own building: the ground floor is a bakery counter and the second floor is a sit-down café, with a third floor used for private events.
The range covers cakes, tarts, pastries, breads, pies and a few savoury items, plus coffee and tea. It is a good stop for a cheap, local-style sweet breakfast or afternoon cake on the west side of the city.
