Nauryz (Kazakh New Year)
The Kazakh spring new year in Bayan-Ölgii, with family visits, horse games, music and the special dish nauryz kozhe.
Mongolia's Kazakh minority, most of whom live in Bayan-Ölgii, celebrate Nauryz at the spring equinox. Families visit each other in their best clothes, prepare nauryz kozhe (a soup of meat, grain and milk), and there are concerts, wrestling and horse games in Ölgii.
